How to Use DAP for Pot Preparation

🌱 How to Use DAP for Pot Preparation

DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) is a balanced fertilizer providing nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), which are essential for strong root development, healthy foliage, and early flowering. When used correctly, it boosts plant growth in pots and containers.

1. Selecting the Right Fertilizer

  • Use Garden365 DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) for potting applications.

  • Ensure it’s granular or powdered, easy to mix with potting medium.

2. Choosing the Potting Medium

DAP works best when combined with a nutrient-rich and well-draining medium:

  • Garden365 Soil-Less Potting Mix – base soil for plants

  • Garden365 Cocopeat – retains moisture without waterlogging

  • Garden365 Red Soil – provides structure and minerals

  • Optional: Garden365 Vermicompost for added organic nutrition

Suggested ratio for general potting:

  • 40–50% Potting Mix / Red Soil

  • 30% Cocopeat

  • 20% Vermicompost (optional)

  • Add DAP: 1–2 grams per liter of soil mix

πŸ’‘ Tip: Avoid excess DAP β€” too much can burn plant roots or create nutrient imbalance.

3. Mixing the Potting Medium

  1. In a bucket or container, combine potting mix, cocopeat, red soil, and vermicompost.

  2. Sprinkle Garden365 DAP evenly throughout the soil mix.

  3. Mix thoroughly to ensure uniform nutrient distribution.

4. Filling the Pot

  1. Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

  2. Optionally, place small stones or broken pots at the bottom for extra drainage.

  3. Fill the pot with the prepared DAP-enriched soil, leaving 1–2 inches from the rim.

  4. Firm lightly without compacting.

5. Planting and Watering

  • Water the soil lightly before planting seeds or seedlings.

  • Keep soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging.

  • Garden365 HDPE Grow Bags can be used for improved drainage and portability.

6. Top Dressing and Follow-Up Fertilization
